Net-Shaped Pinhole

Self-Initiated Brief: Photography at present is all about the use of digital cameras because of there ability to be quick in producing high quality images in the matter of minutes. For this project I want to go back and explore the basics of photography using the pinhole camera as a tool. Research and experiment with the pinhole camera and use it to create distorted images without the use of high tech equipment e.g wide angle lens etc.

Final Outcome: I came up with the idea of placing the photographic paper not only on just one side of the pinhole camera but to see what would happen if I covered all sides to create an image that appeared on all sides. The result was an interesting distorted image that looked quite surreal. I decided to photograph the series at the British Museum as I thought it was an appropriate subject to help distort its strong architectural horizontal and vertical lines.

The process was quite tedious as I could only take one photograph at a time, but also had to estimate the exposure just by guessing how strong I thought the light was at that particular time. After shooting I then had to travel back to the darkroom and develop the print hoping the exposure was correct. After experimenting with the cube shape net i then began to look at other shapes to see what kind of distortion they brought to an image.
